MOLLYMOOK I
New residence & separate guest area
Brief: The brief was for family home to capture the ocean views, with plenty of light and areas for kids to play, with a private guest area & a home office. And for the home to be a refuge from the strong coastal winds.
About: This is home is situated in the coastal town of Mollymook on the NSW south coast. The home is for a family of five, a mainly single level home, except for the large double car garage, workshop, and a self-contained guest area with private entry. Large easterly windows enclose the home and give protection to strong north easterly winds while still capturing the incredible views to the north-east, east & south-east. Outdoor dining is located on the western side, in a courtyard style deck but still having ocean views through the kitchen. All the living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms & home office are on the upper level. The living, dining & master bedroom all have high exposed raftered ceilings, giving a sense of light & volume. Ceiling are lined in timber tongue & groove . Highlight louvres along the northern side of the central dining allow natural light & ventilation to come through into the centre of the home. There is a playful loft above the tv room, a place for kids toys and playtime for the three children.
Site constraints: strong north easter winds in summer time.
